Music blogs and aggregators like Hype Machine are a barometer of music taste and trends, and around 2009, the blogs were awash with bootlegs. However, these bootlegs transcended the standard formula, fusing Hip Hop, Funk, Dub Step and Reggae. Personally, I liked this mashup of genres as incorporated the classic records I loved and gave them a new lease of life with fat basslines, 303 acid riffs and club stomping kicks and snares.
This collection of mixes features the best bootlegs I discovered during my noodling around the internet. In addition, I dug through my record collection to find acapella and beats to segway between tracks in interesting ways and make the mixes more personal.
