I always said I would save Jazz and Whiskey for my old age. I know there is so much good stuff to discover and so many wonderful stories to uncover, that it should keep me entertained until dementia sets in.

However, I have purchased quite a bit of jazz in the last 20 plus years, mostly records sampled by Hip Hop and House producers and the obvious stuff every muso should own like ‘Some Kind of Blue’ by Miles Davis, and ‘Blue Train’ by John Coltrane.

For these mixes, I focused on the more Funky Jazz records in my collection, the tracks with the killer drum loops and phat bass lines, tracks like ‘Ain’t It Funky Now’ by Grant Green and ‘Expansions’ by Lonnie Liston Smith.
