Soul 'n' Grooves
Post Punk New Wave
I was first introduced to New Wave in the early 80s when a friend introduced me to Talking Heads. Even though I was only ten at the time, I was instantly drawn to the raw energy, they electronic sounds and the insane lyrics. Soon after I discovered Devo and Yello who I was fortunate enough to see at the very first Acid House night I went to; Spectrum under the Arches in Charring Cross. Good Times.
The first New Wave record I remember buying with my own pocket money was ‘Pig Bag’ by ‘Pig Bag’ now that was and still is one of the greatest records ever made, and yes, I know I’ve said that a few times. But if you don’t know it then check it out on the second mix. Trust me it’s a monster that will have you bopping around the living room.
