This Is Soul
I can’t remember exactly how old I was when I was given a portable record player with built in amplified speaker, anyway to accompany that present was a Motown compilation album called Motown Hits. That album featured tracks by Smokey Robinson, Diana Ross and the Supremes and Marvin Gaye. I must have listen to that album nonstop, so much so I wore out the grooves.
That was the bait and I was hooked, singles by Aretha Franklin, Dionne Warwick, Sam Cooke, Al Green and Steve Wonder were soon added to my collection. My love of Soul has never wavered, I was a regular at the Mastermind Rd Show, and was fanatical about Loose Ends, the first home grown Soul group that could better the Americans at their own game.
